Questioning Canada’s Identity

Mundane Astrology looks at world news, politics, economics, etc. In recent years I have tracked the big events like 911, JFK, Fukushima, etc., but not on a daily basis. I have kept an eye on the charts of US, Canada and a few other countries. Here was the surprise: the commonly known chart of Canada that I was studying is wrong. I have recently found clear historical and astrological evidence to prove that the natal chart of the Dominion of Canada is midnight, July 1 1867. This is very important because it puts Neptune on the ascendant.

In an individual, the ascendant has to do with identity, physical appearance, presentation and characteristics.  It is the personality. Also called the Rising Sign, the ascendant is the vehicle that has been created for the purpose of navigating a lifetime. The sign and planets will tell the story of authenticity. Many hide behind a façade or a costume. Life is tricky and the true self, the sun sign, may not want all the cards on the table. The ascendant is the “John Henry”, the outside of the package, the modus operandi as seen by onlookers.

Neptune is nebulous. Here are some keywords: Illusive, spiritual, dissolving, hidden, secret, oceanic, dreamy, faith, fantasy, myth, magic, imagination, unconscious, fiction, addiction, escapism, illusion, deception, erosion, lack of boundaries, artistic, mystical, sensitive, idealistic, confused, cloudy.

The Rising Sign of Canada’s chart is Aries. Aries is about identity. It is a masculine, fire, cardinal sign. Ruled by mars, Aries is pioneering, enterprising, courageous, energetic, reactive, sporty, impulsive, impatient and warlike. Aries can be competitive and selfish. In mundane astrology Aries would mean to initiate, to start, to act or activate.

This combination can mean that the action and workings of the country are happening behind a shroud. The expression “passive-aggressive” works well. Neptune can also mean drugs and this is one of many issues that muddy the waters. Neptune is also representative of our extensive coastal aperture, east and west. Canadians have a general rep as being “nice”, which you could also call wishy-washy. The flag is red and white, which is very Arian. Aries would stand for the armed forces and Neptune would suggest corruption and perhaps erosion. Regardless of the sign, any chart with Neptune on the ascendant is enigmatic at least, deceptive more likely.

Back in 1867 it was decided on March 29, according to the British North America Act, that Canada would commence to be a Dominion on July 1st. (this suggests, as of midnight) So the BNAA could be considered the conception date. Interesting that at conception the sun was in Aries, mercury was retrograde in Aries (always a bad time for a contract), and they were hidden in the 12th house of Canada’s birth chart. The 12th house can be unconscious, hidden, behind the scenes. Also in the 12th house were Chiron, Jupiter and the south node.  This all tells a story but rather than get into the weeds I would point out the most concerning of that conception chart is that Saturn and Pallas Athene were retrograde and exactly conjunct at 23 Scorpio, on the cusp of Canada’s 8th house of sex/death/taxes/occult/business and other people’s money. Scorpio is the 8th sign and carries similar frequencies. Saturn is control, authority, hard, cold ambition, rules and parameters. Pallas is strategy, planning, mapping, law and political diplomacy. The presence of these celestial bodies in Canada’s house of transformation, power and big business, magnified by the sign of Scorpio and further camouflaged by their retrograde motion, suggests to me nefarious, perhaps criminal, devious, or at least self-serving intentions. It makes me think that the creation of the country called Canada was by design, to be controlled and manipulated, for the purpose of monetary gain by hidden controllers. The 10th, 11th and 12th houses of Canada’s chart are ruled by Saturn, the controller. These houses are Canada’s reputation, social interaction/groups/communities and hidden enemies. On top of this the chart as a whole is a bucket chart with the handle being Saturn, meaning further control.

What has come to light on the world stage recently is a great deal of questions, confusion and embarrassment on the part of Canada as an entity.

While Canada’s outward presentation is a House of Mirrors, there is much more to the essence of who we are. However we came together, we are here on the land, in the beauty, among courageous, hardy, eclectic, resilient and resourceful families, neighbors and communities. However contrived, our sun sign is Cancer which is all about family, compassion, security and home. The sun is in the 4th house which is grounding, heredity, history and tradition. Consider the phrase, “Oh Canada, our home and native land.” Exactly conjunct the sun – our purpose and true core – is Uranus. This adds characteristics of independence, rebellion, unpredictability and ingenuity. The 4th house is our sense of place – our connection with the earth and her bounty.

The moon is in Gemini and the 3rd house, representing communication, short trips, commerce and neighborhoods. The moon is what we want, the comforts, desires, feelings. In mundane astrology it’s about the public and how we manage food, hospitality, housing and health. Since Gemini is ruled by mercury, these issues fall under the media, rhetoric, telecommunications and lots of details. The moon is weakly placed in a late degree and having no positive contacts. Basics wants and needs are much talked about, but unsupported in practical terms.

The Venus Star Point of Canada’s birth chart is 14 Capricorn38. I take license to include an esoteric and sacred geometric point in a mundane study. This is the apex of the Venus pentagram, placed in conjunction with Canada’s midheaven (reputation) and represents that which the people, i.e. the heart of the country can offer to humanity. The Sabian Symbol for this point talks about the responsibility of society to ensure the welfare of the new generation… “in view of the ruling power and social conditions which endanger the healthy and spiritual unfoldment of a community, especially its children, there is a constant need for tender care and the skill to neutralize destructive tensions of social living”. So, while the world looks on at our embarrassing politics, our sketchy, ugly history and more being revealed in this fast-paced time of disclosure, there is always the higher octave of Neptune, Saturn and Uranus. Neptune on the ascendant can refer to a land from sea to sea, or a land of drugs and addiction. Uranus can rebel, break free. Saturn will respect boundaries and reward hard work. . I did feel the hearts and courage of good Canadians during the trucker convoy. That was a brave and passionate moment in history that the world could hear.

In the progressed chart the sun is now at 13 Sagittarius. This is clearly about foreign interference. In 3 years it will square the natal moon’s nodes, challenging the status quo. The progressed moon is again weakly placed in late pisces in the 12th. The public is stifled, true feelings unknown. This spring and summer, the moon will enter Aries and we will be hearing blowback. Over the next 3 years, this will gain momentum. As the moon travels through the 1st house, the public will find it’s voice and even take action.

The transits are VERY exciting. Pluto, now in revolutionary, humanitarian Aquarius, is going to be in the 11th house for many years. This will empower communities, groups, networking, inventions and humanitarian efforts. Right now Neptune, Saturn, venus, mercury, sun and moon are heading for Canada’s ascendant. Not only is the emperor wearing no clothes, but he is going to have some serious ‘splaining to do. On March 29 2025 there will be a solar eclipse at 9 Aries. This is the same degree where Chiron sat in Feb ’22 when Trudeau invoked the Emergencies Act. That was the wound. This eclipse will bring it into focus, among many other things. At the same time mercury will be entering Aries with strong messages about past deeds. Neptune is just on the verge of entering Aries. This will be perpetrators of deception with their proverbial feet to the Arian fire. On March 22 when venus connects with the Sun we will have a new Venus Star Point at 2Aries, lasting for the next 9 months. During March, mars will be in Cancer, squaring Canada’s ascendant. Mars rules Aries. I think that this eclipse in Aries, March 29, will be The Challenge. It seems there is already a war going on behind the scenes. For the rest of the year, these planets will emerge from the 12th house and reveal much of what has gone on in secret. Uranus is on the cusp of Canada’s 2nd house, promising changes in the economy. The 2nd is ruled by venus while Vesta and venus live there, so I think we will see positive changes in the monetary and investment area. Uranus will be a harbinger of change in Canadian finances as he travels in the 2nd house until 2031. The 2nd house is not just about money. The deeper growth is more about the value system. During the coming years as Uranus moves into Gemini, values will shift from earth sign Taurus to air sign Gemini, putting accent on communication, data, learning and transportation.

We watched the United States go through a Pluto return. We were harkened back to 1776 and the birth of the US – as a country or a corporation, well that’s for another post. Now we watch the rebirth (and I’m cheering for a revival as a republic). Canada’s process is different, since we don’t really have a constitution. Will we become a country unto ourselves? Will we break up into pieces? Will we join the US? I know for sure I want a new flag. I would love to have a new chart to study as well. From here, looks like a bumpy road at least until that eclipse in late March.
